Joe Kilbride has been a self-employed management consultant since 1990, helping leaders of organizations achieve difficult and important goals. He does this by applying his expertise in:

  • ♦ Strategy execution through alignment of plans, goals, measures, review and improvement processes
  •  Process excellence through application of PDSA, Six Sigma, and Lean Enterprise methods
  •  Organizational change management through a three-phase iterative process that integrates
the disciplines of change management, project management and organizational effectiveness
  •  The Baldrige® Journey using his Road Map to guide leaders on the journey to organizational excellence
Joe also serves as a member of the Panel of Judges for ILPEx - Illinois Performance Excellence, formerly known as the Lincoln Foundation. ILPEx administers an Illinois recognition program modeled after the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award®. He has been involved since its inception in 1995, serving as a lead senior examiner, judge and trainer of new examiners and instructor for several classes offered by ILPEx. Much of his consulting work is providing advisory services to executives who are using the Criteria as a framework for assessment and improvement as they lead their organization on the journey to excellence.

Joe's book Road Map for the Baldrige Journey became available from ASQ in December 2015. It is designed to help leaders transform their organizations by using the Criteria for Performance Excellence in conjunction with their state's Baldrige-based award programs in an ongoing process to design and implement a customized operating model for excellence.

In addition, Joe is a girls high school varsity basketball coach. In 2015 he guided the Benet Academy Lady Redwings to their first ever Illinois Class 4A State Championship.

Prior to going solo in 1990, Joe held positions as a high school teacher, as a marketing representative with Ortho Diagnostics, Inc., as a training consultant with the Jacklich Corporation, and as an instructional designer with Rockwell International.
